"No
Caribbean country, the United Kingdom, the United States of America or
Canada would send policemen or troops to Guyana.
They will probably give you a few advisers but will not send policemen to solve
our crimes."
President
Jagdeo
Commander in Chief of Armed
Forces.
He did got few advisors as
requested.

the story of Indians being moved to the West Indies
makes a moving reading people uprooted by irony of fate and
history. I really feel pity for the destiny's children. |

Your

anything to add...about training in India? |

Specialised training is vitally
important in village defence. The idea is to have skill
operatives in the area who can deal with a few criminal thugs
before the police can get there. Jagdeo needs to let criminals
know that if they enter the villages, then the villagers have
the right to defend themselves and their families. India have
the training apparatus and therefore can easily accommodate
young Indian men and women from Guyana. Six months scholarship
programs to India would go a long way in consolidating PPP
support.
There has to be some sort of
agreement in principle that if thugs enter the villages and
the villagers respond that the police and government would
side with the villagers. That has to be made abundantly clear.
During the PNC racist era, if villagers responded the police
and army would come and arrest them, taking away their
weapons. This type of thinking must be changed. The enemy is
not the hard working villagers but the enemy is the lazy
thieves who feel they can harass anybody without any
retribution. If the police is not prepared to defend the
citizenry then the citizens of Guyana must do what was done in
the Western frontiers of America-defend themselves. No apology
for defending oneself and family....
